Heather Holt Totty joined the ACLU of New Hampshire in September of 2022. As the Associate Director of Philanthropy, she looks forward to getting to know constituents, deepening individual donor relationships, and expanding support for the critical work of ACLU-NH. Strategic thinking and thorough planning underpin her work, while creativity and inspiration propel her forward. Heather comes to the agency with 25 years of experience in nonprofit work.

Heather is an engaged citizen, involving herself in local and global issues including civil liberties, civic engagement, youth development and sustainability. She earned a B.A. in Russian Studies from the University of New Hampshire, which was her jumping off point for both international travel and nonprofit work. After college, she went to work for a small international organization helping environmental groups in the Former Soviet Union connect with the world through the internet. 

Born and raised in the Granite State, Heather lived and worked in various parts of Massachusetts for over 15 years. In 2011, she came home to New Hampshire where she and her family find many ways to enjoy the state’s natural beauty.
