Q.Bills That Need Your Action! Week of April 12, 2021 (updated continuously)
A.

This week, the New Hampshire Senate's Judiciary Committee is meeting on criminal legal reform bills that need your support! To take action, sign in SUPPORT on the Senate Sign In webpage (linked above).

Here are the bills for Thursday and Friday:

  • HB 471 - SUPPORT - Thursday, April 15
    • HB471 would make police decertification hearings public, just like the equivalent is public for lawyers and judges.
  • HB 485 - SUPPORT - Thursday, April 15
    • HB 485 would require police officers who ask if they can search your car without a warrant to inform you that you have the right to say no, and that refusing to consent to the search cannot be used as grounds for a search warrant, to arrest you, or to detain you further. Put simply, this requires law enforcement officers to inform you of your right to say “no” when they ask to search your car without a warrant.
