NH House Committee Overwhelmingly Supports Death Penalty Repeal!

Today the New Hampshire House Criminal Justice and Safety Committee overwhelmingly supported repeal of the death penalty in a bi-partisan vote of 14-3. The vote in favor of the repeal bill (HB  1170) included a majority of Committee members from both parties. It also included a number of members who previously opposed the death penalty--such as House Majority Leader and former law enforcement officer, Steven Shurtleff, and Criminal Justice Committee Chair, Laura Pantelakos.
Next step: we expect a vote on the New Hampshire House floor as soon as next Wednesday, 2/19. Call your member today and ask them to support repeal!
