CONCORD – Today, the New Hampshire House passed SB 66 – a fetal personhood measure that recognizes a fetus as an independent victim of a crime for the first time under New Hampshire law. The House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee previously retained the bill by a margin of 21-1. Last week the Committee reconsidered its vote and passed the bill out of Committee 12-8.
CONCORD — President Trump signed today an executive order establishing a “Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity.” One of the Commission’s members will be New Hampshire Secretary of State William Gardner. The Commission’s Vice Chair reportedly will also be Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, whom the ACLU has successfully sued numerous times over his voter suppression policies.[1]
CONCORD – Today the New Hampshire Senate passed, with a 17-6 vote, critical drug policy reform in a measure to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana. Under HB 640, as amended by the Senate, an adult 18 years or older in possession of three quarters of an ounce or less of marijuana would be guilty of a violation for their first three offenses and not subject to arrest. Their fourth offense committed within a three year period would constitute a class B misdemeanor. The bill now goes back to the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

SB 66, if passed, would recognize a fetus as an independent victim of a crime for the first time under New Hampshire law. In doing so, SB 66 pits the rights of women against the rights of a fetus.
