CONCORD, N.H. - The ACLU of New Hampshire today released the following statement after the New Hampshire House of Representatives unanimously rejected several bills through the “consent calendar” that would have reinstated the death penalty in New Hampshire.
Amanda Azad, policy director at the ACLU of New Hampshire, said, “New Hampshire repealed the death penalty in 2019 because it is inhumane, fundamentally flawed, racist, and error-prone. We commend the state legislature for decisively refusing today to force New Hampshire back to this archaic, cruel, and unjust practice.”
