We are happy to announce the ACLU NH Banned Book Club — a safe space for folks across the Granite State to come together, build community, and discuss selected books that cover a range of issues impacting our civil rights and liberties.
It's also an opportunity for us to connect and create a supportive environment for continued learning. The ACLU NH Banned Book Club meets monthly around an issue area and will provide other media, including podcasts and films, for further learning. It is not a requirement to finish the primary book to attend the meetings.
For our first meeting we will be discussing “One Day I’ll Grow Up to Be a Beautiful Woman” by Abi Maxwell, who we are delighted to have join us virtually!
This book is a fiery, heartbreaking memoir that follows one New Hampshire family over the course of three years, unspooling a riveting story of gender identity.
If obtaining a book is an obstacle that prevents you from joining, please contact Kat (
