Tell Governor Ayotte: No book bans in NH

Right now, a bill that would allow the banning of books, art, films and videos, visual media like drawings and photographs, live performances, dances, guest speakers, and other material in our public schools is on its way to Governor Ayotte’s desk. The bill, SB 434, would restrict free speech, create a chilling effect for educators across NH, and make it easier for one parent to ban books, art, and materials in classrooms and school libraries across the Granite State. The right to free expression includes the freedom to read whatever we choose. Yet our state government is attempting to make it easier to ban books right here in New Hampshire Just last year, Governor Ayotte vetoed a similar book ban bill and this time should be no different. There's no time to wait: tell Governor Ayotte to veto SB 434 when it reaches her desk soon!

Tell the NH Senate: Landlords and Sheriffs Should Not Be Doing Immigration Enforcement

Right now, state senators are considering two bills that would direct landlords and local sheriffs to conduct harmful and cruel immigration enforcement against people who rent housing across New Hampshire. These bills would not only fuel discrimination, but invite immigration policing into the homes of people living in the Granite State. Landlords and local sheriffs should not be acting as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – especially during evictions. Tell your state senator to oppose HB 1499 and HB 1709 when they vote soon.

Tell Governor Ayotte: No bathroom bans or discrimination in NH

Right now, two identical bathroom ban bills that would roll back critical anti-discrimination protections are making their way through the state legislature and could soon land on Governor Ayotte's desk, where she could sign or veto them. Both this year and last year, Governor Ayotte vetoed similar bills because they would have violated the civil rights of Granite Staters under state and federal law, and this time is no different. We need your help: tell Governor Ayotte that hate and discrimination have no place in New Hampshire and that LGBTQ people, specifically the transgender community, are guaranteed equal protection under the law and belong in the Granite State.
